Pilots gather in Narromine, Australia for the 37th FAI World Gliding Championships Narromine, Australia – Excitement is building in Narromine, New South Wales, Australia ahead of the 37th edition of the FAI World Gliding Championships which runs between 2nd to 16th December 2023. Eighty competitors will represent 21 nations at the event. Competition flights will start on 3rd December, during which the 80 participants will navigate their high-performance gliders across central NSW, engaging in races that can last between three to five hours. The distances covered during these races range from 300 to 500 kilometres. The winners of each race will accumulate points. In each of the three classes, the pilot with the highest point score at the end of the competition will be declared World Champion. To mark the commencement of the World Gliding Championships Narromine, an Opening Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 2nd. Gliding Australia has taken charge of organising the event under the auspices of FAI. It will be conducted by highly skilled organisers who have successfully managed various Gliding events at the State, National, and international levels, including the FAI Junior World Championships in 2015 as well as multiple Australian national championships. Thanks to its exceptional facilities and amenities suitable for large-scale events - including a fully equipped airfield and easy access to cultural services within walking distance from a bustling town - Narromine will ensure the pilots and their supporters have a wonderful experience in Australia. Elle se caractérise notamment par ses 5 pales en carbone. Après une version Flair-1 en expérimentation, la Flair-2 sera certifiée EASA en 2016. Elle équipera plusieurs avions remorqueurs dont ceux du Centre national de vol à voile à Saint-Auban-sur-Durance mais aussi les appareils de plusieurs clubs vélivoles. En mai 2017, la rupture d’une pale sur un DR-400/180 remorqueur en vol (sans planeur derrière lui) entrainera l’arrêt de vol des hélices Flair. Pour la version certifiée de cette hélice, il avait fallu attendre un peu plus d’un an pour la revoir autorisée en utilisation après modification de son moyeu. Mais un Bulletin Service daté de fin août dernier annonce à nouveau « l’interruption immédiate et temporaire de l’utilisation de cette hélice jusqu’à nouvel ordre », ceci suite à la remontée d’information concernant l’apparition de criques sur la contre-dépouille de la bague en aluminium d’une hélice 5-pale FLAIR-2 certifiée, hélice équipant un remorqueur DR400-180R. >> http://www.duc-helices.com/produit.php?id_produit=1069&id_rubrique=88

    Netherlands Venue – Terlet 11th to 17th of May 2025 Contact address robertjungblut@outlook.com Terlet, home of the first ever Junior World Championships in 1999, is situated close to the German border. The organising club, Gelderse Zweefvliegclub, is ranked second in the global OLC with more than 350,000km. The club’s team running this event has plenty of experience, as they also organise the annual Dutch Nationals with over 50 participants. The airfield, a pure glider location except for the towing aircraft, has excellent meteorological conditions for flights within the Netherlands as well into Germany. It is situated just north of the major city of Arnhem, with lots of restaurants, hotels and museums. Each year, the centre organises one or two national cups in the GP format. To the south of Starmoen, the race area is rolling flatland with great outlanding options. The terrain is more mountainous to the north and north west with spectacular views and mountains of over 2,000m.
